Event Videos from The Committee on Global Thought
The Committee on Global Thought is an interdisciplinary initiative dedicated to developing the necessary concepts and methodologies to interpret globality and globalization. Founded in 2006 under the auspices of President Lee Bollinger and chaired by Saskia Sassen, the Committee on Global Thought is composed of 30 pre-eminent scholars from over 15 disciplines and 11 of the University’s schools. While universities have long recognized the global scale and context of today’s social, political, and economic problems, disciplinary conventions and boundaries sometimes constrain the development of concepts adequate to tackling them. The Committee on Global Thought addresses this challenge through the pursuit of crosscutting research projects; by hosting high profile conferences, lectures and other events that facilitate thought connections among university and non-university actors; and through the development of educational programs that bring interdisciplinary concepts and methodologies to bear on critical issues of the day.
